Q&A: Missing 3 days of school for a vacation?

Question by Alyssa Dfgdg: Missing 3 days of school for a vacation?
I’m in middle school and I’m missing 3 days of school for a cruise. I’m going to tell my teachers so I can get my work, but what should I tell them. Visiting family? On a cruise? “Family situation” or just in Florida?
I don’t know if I can tell them it’s a wedding because I have very strict teacher that will ask for proof

The closest is at John’s pass in clearwater. (Don’t forget about the tampa hardrock…) There are some shuttles from the SRQ area. I know the malls have pick up points. (and I think they are free).

Q&A: my question concerns a “free introductory cruise” to the caribbean…scam?

Question by : my question concerns a “free introductory cruise” to the caribbean…scam?
recently, my dad received a free introductory cruise to the caribbean, in the mail…it goes under the name “caribbean cruise line”, located in boynton beach, florida

anyway, apparently you have to call a toll-free #, within 72 hrs. (3 days) of receiving this “free introductory cruise” notice in the mail…which doesn’t give you a lot of time to think about it…or to plan…
but that’s not the point of my question…

just now, i checked this caribbean cruise line company on the net…
i couldn’t find anything listed under this corporate name…
i checked both Yahoo! and a reverse phone address/reverse phone number…i found nothing useful…the only thing i found, in the reverse add/phone # listings was several residents listed…

even if this is supossed to be a new cruise line…you think it would be
on the net…

here’s my point…

is this a scam? how could i go about checking this stuff out on the net?

i want to see if this caribbean cruise line is real…or just a sham…

thanks
i’ll give you the add. of
this company:

caribbean cruise line
admin. offices – records div.
200 knuth rd., ste # 100
boynton beach, fl 33436

on the cover, it has the logos
of the universal orlando & the
ramada hotels (ft. lauderdale/
orlando) on the upper right-hand
side, in addition to a logo that
says, “porthole cruise magazine
award”

it also says, on the
bottom-right side, “approved” in
red letters, with the name of
the president, robert mitchell,
underneath this

in this letter, they list all sorts
of exciting stuff..”fun kid’s
programs, comfortable cabin,
delicious meals, exciting
vegas-style live entertainment
& casino action”, & “a fun day
in port duty-free shopping,
sunning or sightseeing”.

this cruise supposedly starts in
ft. lauderdale & ends in the
bahamas, on board the “stunning”
cruise ship, bahamas cele-
bration. also, you’re supposed to
receive accommodations in
both ft. lauderdale & orlando,
among other things

thanks

Is there marine transportation from Florida to Bahamas that is not a cruise?

by Scubabix

Question by ashley: Is there marine transportation from Florida to Bahamas that is not a cruise?
I was looking at marine transportation options from Ft Lauderdale to Bahamas and they are all “vacation cruises” or “casino cruises”. What happen to the “Transportation Only” options? in the early 1980s I would travel from Ft Lauderdale to the Bahamas on a transportation only ferry and it ran everyday. Why did they do away with “Transportation only” options? Does anyone know?

Are these “Ramada Plaza Resorts” travel documents for real? Has anyone used them?

by Scubabix

Question by animal lover: Are these “Ramada Plaza Resorts” travel documents for real? Has anyone used them?
Hey,

I just got something in the mail today and wondered if it is real. It was from “Ramada Plaza Resorts” and is like a travel confirmation thingy. It says that I can use this “$ 1600 travel voucher” to purchase my vacation package for a “Spectacular Florida/Tropical Caribbean Cruise”. In return, I am supposed to fill out a one-page survey evaluating my vacation.

Has anyone else ever gotten these and used them? I used to get them all the time in the mail, but never really looked at them. This time I read it and really wonder what the catch is.

Any information you could give me would be great. Especially if you have specifically had experience with this company and their promotions.

Thanks.

We went on an RPR trip in 2002, which ended up consisting of three nights in Pompano Beach, FL, a two-day cruise to Nassau, Bahamas, another day in Pompano Beach, FL, and two nights in Orlando, FL.

If you do some internet searching, you’ll most likely turn up nothing but bad things about RPR. However, that wasn’t quite our experience. In fact, we had a relatively good time, as did most of the other people as far as we could tell, and it was certainly worth the cheap price of the trip. Some notes:

1) Some people weren’t big fans of the hectic nature of the trip (i.e. spending a few days in Pompano, followed by a short cruise, followed by only a single night in Pompano and then a drive up to Orlando for a couple days). However, given that we drove down from Maryland, it wasn’t a big problem for us to do all this (i.e. we didn’t have to worry about flight schedules, etc), and it was actually pretty enjoyable.

2) The cruise ship was much smaller than any cruise ship you’d normally take a cruise on. It being our first cruise, it wasn’t a big deal, but others who had been on cruises before had some complaints about that.

3) Expect to go to a mandatory timeshare presentation, or something similar. However, approached the right way, this doesn’t have to be too bad of a negative. In fact, ironically enough, the more negative your attitude, the most positive an experience it will probably turn out to be :).
