Whose the bigger enemy to U.S interests, Chavez or Ahmadinejad?

by Manitoba Historical Maps

Question by slyry75: Whose the bigger enemy to U.S interests, Chavez or Ahmadinejad?
“Ahmadinejad has shocked the West with his calls for Israel to be “wiped off the map.” He and Chavez established a warm rapport when the Venezuelan leader visited Tehran last month.

Chavez, a robust ex-paratrooper, has courted other anti-U.S. leaders from Belarus to Cuba in recent months as he tries to build a broad global coalition against “imperialism.””

Both are menacing, but neither has enough real power to do much harm to us. (unless Iran builds a bomb.)

When viewing in the design mode, when you click on the hotspot, a window pops up. Add what you want it to say in the field “Alt”.

When viewing the code, type in alt=”blah, blah”

how do i get rid of the hardcoding to each cell on VBA?

by fdecomite

Question by Nerd: how do i get rid of the hardcoding to each cell on VBA?
Range(“B3”).Select
Selection.End(xlDown).Select

‘selects all sold to code
For i = 3 To Selection.row

For j = 1 To Selection.row
If Range(“A” & i).Value = Worksheets(“mapping”).Range(“B” & j).Value And Worksheets(“mapping”).Range(“A” & j) = Worksheets(“dashboard”).Range(“E4”).Value Then

‘if true, make these calculations
intSum = (Range(“B” & i).Value) / 1024 + intSum
End If
Next j
Next i

ActiveSheet.Next.Select
Range(“E5”).Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = intSum

intSum = 0

like I have the code checking each cell with a mapping table to see if it’s a match. and if so, it dumps out the calculation in another cell. The thing is, the process is for a whole row of data that all use the same process.

I want it to do >>>>>

Worksheets(“mapping”).Range(“A” & j) = Worksheets(“dashboard”).Range(“E4”).Value

E4, F4, G4, etc.

same with output>>>>>>>>

Range(“E5”).Select
E5, F5, G5, etc.

If you are indicating that you need to repeat the process for each column, for each row, in the table you will need to a loop variable for columns.

It would probably be easier to use the ‘Cells’ method than the ‘Range’ method for that. In the Range method your columns are ‘alpha’ characters, and Excel can’t loop ‘For A to G’.

The Cells method refers to the columns numerically, so you can loop them easily.

For example, try the following. In the range A1:C5 enter the numbers 1-15 across the columns in groups of 5. Row 1= 1-5, Row 2= 6-10, Row 3 = 11-15.

Copy the following macro to the VBE and then call it on the sheet containing the ‘table’.

Sub TableValues()
Dim i, j
For i = 1 To 3
For j = 1 To 5
MsgBox Cells(i, j).Value
Next j
Next i
End Sub

The msgboxes will display the numbers 1-15 sequentially as it loops through the columns and rows.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction.

HTML Rollover Question?

by Brooklyn Museum

Question by walter james g: HTML Rollover Question?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to get this rollover to work and there is something wrong with the code below.All the picture files are in the same folder.Basically there is a tree that has been mapped and when you rollover the various links with a mouse the picture changes to circle the links in red.It isn’t working out that way though when ran? Any ideas? Perhaps it is something obvious in the HTML that I am overlooking or something like that? I appreciate any input and thank you.-

Sorry, your posted code has been severely chopped by Yahoo Answers. They have many security protocols that prevent posting of complex JavaScript code. I can’t directly help with your code the way it is.

A general suggestion to help you would be to install Firebug in FireFox. It is a JavaScript debugging console that can help you figure out what is going wrong.

Also, a simpler debugging technique in JavaScript is to place:

alert(‘breakpoint 1 reached’);
alert(‘breakpoint 2 reached’);

in the various places of your code which you think may be causing the problem. If you fire the code and you don’t get a pop-up box, you know the problem is somewhere BEFORE the point at which you placed the “breakpoint.”

How do I get the loop to check through diff cells horizontally on VBA?

Question by Nerd: How do I get the loop to check through diff cells horizontally on VBA?
Dim intSum As Integer
ActiveSheet.Previous.Select

Range(“B3”).Select
Selection.End(xlDown).Select

For i = 3 To Selection.row

For j = 1 To Selection.row
If Range(“A” & i).Value = Worksheets(“mapping”).Range(“B” & j).Value And Worksheets(“mapping”).Range(“A” & j) = Worksheets(“dashboard”).Range(“E4”).Value Then

‘if true, make these calculations
intSum = (Range(“B” & i).Value) / 1024 + intSum
End If
Next j
Next i

ActiveSheet.Next.Select
Range(“E5”).Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = intSum

————————————————-

I am trying to get this to loop through each cell on a column heading and check against a mapping table. IF there is a match it would add those that match and spit the value out underneath its relevant column heading.

Worksheets(“mapping”).Range(“A” & j) = Worksheets(“dashboard”).Range(“E4”).Value
see? Right now i’m having to change “E4” manually to F4, G4, etc. I want it to check from E4-S4

Here is how you can loop through rows and columns to place values into each cell.
You can adapt this to your code. The key is to identify the sheet that the values are to be entered onto. In this case the ME object is using the active sheet from which the button event fired from. The code below will place a random number (seeded by the system clock) into the cell.

Dim row As Integer
Dim col As Integer
Dim val As Double

For row = 1 To 3
For col = 1 To 4
val = Math.Rnd(Now)
Me.Cells(row, col).Value = val
Next
Next
