Credit score and applying American Express Platinum Card?

Question by carfrk425: Credit score and applying American Express Platinum Card?
I know this is not the wise way of selecting a credit card, but I really like the way Amex Platinum Card looks like, and things they offer as Platinum Member. However, it has $ 450 annual fee which isn’t that much, but it’s pretty hefty considering I don’t really travel, use hotel, or use concierge service (although I guess it is nice to have). I don’t think it is no longer a “status card” either… Is Amex Platinum Card worth $ 450? I current credit is 713. I am currently financially dependent, 22 yr old (shameful, i know, BUT in my defense, I’ll be enrolling medical school this coming fall), and probably financially dependent for awhile. However, once I start making $ , my “yearly income” will decrease significantly compare to what my parents make. Would Amex change my limit without letting me know? (i’ve read some stories here and there about Amex cutting or canceling account without notice). I currently have Bank of America Visa signature card with 900 credit limit. Knowing all that, would I be able to get a platinum card if I applied?

Do not pay $ 450.00 for that card. I have excellent credit. I never ever paid for a credit card during my life.

Q&A: Working holiday visa for Canadian already in Europe?

Question by saren: Working holiday visa for Canadian already in Europe?
Working holiday visa for Canadian already in Europe

I’m a 27 year old Canadian traveling in Europe (non-student). I’m allowed 3 months (in every 6 month period) to remain in Europe (Schengen countries). Since I just arrived, and realized 3 months isn’t enough, I am now interested in the working holiday visa for the below listed countries. The only problem I have is: I don’t want to return to Canada to apply for these respective programs. I want to apply from here in Europe (at the nearest consulate or embassy) where I happen to be (now, Helsinki).

My question is how likely am I to be accepted since I am not in Canada and applying from within Europe. Also noteworthy, I DON’T have thousands of dollars in my bank account right now, BUT I do have access to a family credit card “number”. The card itself is back in Canada. I use this card number online, or in emergencies.

Another question I have is which country has the easiest application process or greater chance of accepting applicants. If you have applied to one of these countries as a Canadian, or other national (while already in Europe), please let me know how you proceeded. Thanks

Norway
Sweden
Denmark
Latvia

probably harder but worth a try:
Swizterland
Belgium
Holland
Italy
Spain

I came across a site that attempts to answer questions like yours. I don’t know whether it will supply you with all the answers you need, but try www.WhatPassport.com. It seems to be an online visa and immigration search tool designed to find immigration solutions based on a user’s personal situation

My mom/dad are never home!!! HELP?

Question by Anastasia?: My mom/dad are never home!!! HELP?
My mom is always at her office and my dad is always “business traveling”. Basically I’ll be lucky if I see them once daily. We’re wealthy and they give me whatever I ask for. How do I deal with the sitution, I get home from school and there’s a message that says “Hey honey, I can’t make it home tonight so take your friends out, its on my credit card”. I’m alone in a 5 bedroom house by myself, I dont even think they care that I have guys over my house, see I’m saying my house because they’re never there… Just sometimes my mom sleeps at her bedroom. Honestly first few months were GREAT. No one home, no one telling you what to do. Go out, drink, have enormous parties with booze, have guys sleepover but after a while I got tired of it. When people see me, I’m the party girl all the parties are at my house and I’m so sick and tired of it!!! I tried talking to my parents but no. Thanks!!

I’m 17.

Are you this way,forgetful?

Question by jimi4950: Are you this way, forgetful?
While on a road trip, an elderly couple stopped at a roadside restaurant for lunch. After finishing their meal, they left the restaurant and resumed their trip.

When leaving, the elderly woman unknowingly left her glasses on the table and she didn’t miss them until they had been driving about twenty minutes.

By then, to add to the aggravation, they had to travel quite a distance before they could find a place to turn around, in order to return to the restaurant to retrieve her glasses.

All the way back, the elderly husband became the classic grouchy old man. He fussed and complained and scolded his wife relentlessly during the entire return drive. The more he chided her, the more agitated he became. He just wouldn’t let up one minute.

To her relief, they finally arrived at the restaurant. As the woman got out of the car and hurried inside to retrieve her glasses, the old man yelled to her, “While you’re in there, you might as well get my hat and the credit card.”

Harassment while going through customs?

Question by Lilly B: Harassment while going through customs?
Comming from Ny and going through British customs at manchester airport I encountered a dick who just flat out was harassing me. After giving him all the stuff he asked for he then proceeds to ask me, How long did I know my BF, Who paid for my ticket and when I said it was my Bf he said, “why couldnt u pay for your own ticket?” Then told me to take out my wallet to show him how much cash I had on me then told me it was small for the amount of time I was spending out there to which I replied, “I dont walk with alot of cash when I travel hence why I have my credit cards”. He just was acting nuts! The whole 2 months I spent out there I hated it just because of what happened to me at the airport- That was my first time traveling alone, Did he have the right to go that far?
I’m 21 yrs old…I really feel like he was having a go at me for being American- while going through my stuff was saying how much stuff I have and how they have starbucks and what not- total weirdness. Help! How do I go about reporting this or something?
No matter how cocky this sounds, I’m from America (the great). I’m not going to leave my great country for a hole like friggin England to live with sheep. He was messing with me, I know it! You don’t start looking through someone’s cloths and saying “damn how much stuff do u have?” and btw “we have starbucks out here” I want to know how I can go about reporting it, for all those who want to explain to me why he did it- I dont care! There is a rule book for every job and he over stepped his boundaries hence why when the female custom lady came over to assist he changed his manners. This moron was close to finger screwing me ok?

Don’t waste your time or money. 1) It’s a foreign country…you’d have to sue in the UK and it would cost you a mint. 2) if it is a government employee, he/she and the Customs/Immigratin agency have immunity, so suing would be a waste of time. Traveling anymore is a nightmare…just get used to it.

To what extent will my credit card “limit” be affected by my pending foreclosure?

Question by butkus: To what extent will my credit card “limit” be affected by my pending foreclosure?
I have a long standing positive relationship with American Express and have always (and continue) to make payments on time. I received a letter today from AE indicating they have lowered my limit to $ 1000.00 due to, among other reasons, “serious delinquency on other accounts”. Can I anticipate additional limits being imposed even if I keep current with my two remaining credit cards? I need to have at least one card with a appropriate limit to use when I travel on business. Appreciate any advice

Answer by mister ed
be prepared for all card limits be reduced — you might have to use a debit card when traveling!!!
