Hotwire’s secret feature saves you money on hotels

Looking to save money on hotels? Try a  Hotwire.com hot deal. Hotwire won’t reveal the name of the exact hotel you’ll be getting until after you’ve booked but they’ll usually give you a clue that’s almost 100% correct. An example is when you we looked up Las Vegas hotels we were shown a hotel described as “4-star Casino Hotel in Las Vegas Convention Center – Country Club area” then later Hotwire states if you click the listing “Book soon! The last person got the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.” The rate was $45.00 per night! Incredible savings and not once out of hundreds of hotel bookings with Hotwire was the “last person got” hotel mentioned not booked. You can save up to 70% on rack rates!

A Travelers Guide to Kiawah Island South Carolina Family vacation Rentals as well as Hotels and Resorts

Kiawah Island is a captivating and warm and comfortable town located in the Charleston County of South Carolina. It is a major U.S. tourist site that offers expensive spacious villas, large highly acclaimed golf courses, beaches, and other attractions. Kiawah was named for the Kiawah Indians who were led by their head chieftain or cassique. Around 1720, the Cassique of the Kiawah led English Colonists to settle at Charlestowne Landing.

Next, we share some fascinating  attractions and things to do.  You will also find some helpful tendencies for this amazing destinations as well as great lodging options.

Famous for its spectacular, ocean-side golf courses, luxurious Kiawah Island accommodations and some of the best beaches of the country, this island is a true vacationers’ paradise. Those seeking relax and sophisticated atmosphere will find it all here in Kiawah Island including an upscale dining scene and great shopping. Numerous historical attractions, plantation houses and vibrant nightlife can be found in the nearby Charleston.

Kiawah Island is very well known for being one of the most preferred places for golfers from all over the world. This stunning resort features five amazing 18-hole courses. Pete Dye designed Ocean Course, a oustanding golf course. The Ocean Course played host to the 1991 Ryder Cup and is scheduled to host the 2012 PGA Championship. It is a difficult one, due to the near constant wind and a lot of dunes, marshes and sand bunkers. You can see the ocean from every hole!.

Those who love history and would like to learn everything about South Carolina’s exciting past should visit the Charles Towne Landing Historic Site. In this historic place, guests of a Kiawah Island vacation rental will have an opportunity to walk on the very same spot where English colonists in 1670 established the first permanent European settlement in the Carolinas. The site is also home to the animal forest and a life-size reproduction of a 17th century trading vessel.

Blessed with more than 10 miles of sandy beaches and dunes, Kiawah Island is a true Mecca for water sports enthusiasts. Swimming areas, outdoor showers, snack bars and barbecue areas are available for Kiawah Island condo rental guests. Those who love nature will be thrilled with Kiawah Island’s variety of plants and animal species and sea turtles.

One the best things of Kiawah Island is its location so near to Charleston. So, if you are visiting the Island, you won’t miss Charleston, a beautiful and historic place worth a visit. Highly recommend is to visit the First Baptist Church of the South. It was established in 1682 and it is still open for services on Sundays.

Your family won’t forget a visit to The South Carolina Aquarium. It is a place where you can get close to more than 5000 animals, from penguins to sharks, and be amazed at the view of an albino alligator, the very first in the world. A place that most people want to visit there is the Sea Turtle Hospital, where those amazing animals are recovering from their every day injuries. The Aquarium also features a Touch Tank, where patrons are able to touch horseshoe crabs, Atlantic sting rays, and other marine animals.

A market research study shows that 62 percent of the travelers that were looking for a place to stay were interested in comparison shopping among Kiawah Island vacation rentals, bed and breakfasts, and hotels. It is noteworthy that 10 percent were open to receive lodging offers from locations near Kiawah Island including Seabrook Island, Folly Beach, Mt Pleasant, Edisto Island, Charleston, Sullivans Island, and North Charleston.

A study released for a travel website reveals that those mindful travelers who started their trip preparing two or more months in advance represented the 37 percent. More traditional tourists represented the 23 percent and they sent their inquiries one to two months in advance from their travel date. Typical vacationers who preferred to send their inquiries one month before their arrival represented the 35 percent.

It is widely known these days that travelers are looking for websites that help comparison shopping. Rentalo.com is designed to  make it easy for travelers to evaluate and compare different lodging options from vacation rentals, hotels, and bed and breakfasts that satisfy their particular requirements.

For instance, below we have 2 great deals to compare:

Are the people of Grand Turk Island sad?

Question by Bryan: Are the people of Grand Turk Island sad?
I just visited Grand Turk for a day. Other than a large cruise terminal “park” containing ‘Margaritaville’ there seemed to be very little on the island in terms of businesses, recreation, or opportunities. The people working in the cruise terminal seemed ‘hollow’ as though, once the ships leave, the place folds up. I would love some insights – especially from residents.

Most of the inhabitants of Grand Turk are government officials. They recently suffered a 20% pay cut. (It should perhaps be pointed out that they had been given a 20% pay rise by the former, disgraced regime, but it still hurts!) They are at present governed by the UK and there is a lot of stirring up of resentment against the British. A lot of youngsters find that there is no employment for them and there has been a savage reduction in scholarships to study abroad because of the parlous state of the economy. There is also the matter of the impact of Hurricane Ike two years ago. Grand Turk was very badly hit and most people were not insured, which meant that when it came to reconstruction they were in big trouble. As well as losing their homes, their work places were destroyed, which meant that work became additionally stressful. The Island should have been put back to rights by now, but that is not the case. All these are reasons why people might not be feeling too happy at the moment.

Q&A: How do I address a letter to a Caribbean Island “country”?

Question by ultrun: How do I address a letter to a Caribbean Island “country”?
I’m working on a program piece that converts country codes into names of countries that my mailing service will let me mail to. The problem is, a lot of countries in the Caribbean like Turks and Caicos, Netherlands Antilles, etc., have a country code (e.g. TC or TCA), but no listed country that I mail to through my mailing service. That means either I can’t mail to those islands through my service (waiting on feedback for this), or I need to address an island such as Turks and Caicos as a different country. If mailing a letter to Turks and Caicos, would I address the letter with the country, “Turks and Caicos”? Thanks for your feedback in advance. 🙂

If you were addressing a letter to the Turks and Caicos, you would put the Post Box (we don’t have postal deliveries!), and the island, followed by Turks and Caicos Islands, British West Indies.

It is tempting to write BWI for short, but the mail might be sent to the BVI by accident! (I speak from experience!)
